Under 21 representatives
We currently have two under 21 representatives. Aimen Maksoud is a student at the University of Southampton and Lorna Cotter is studying at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.
Around 1.9 million people live in Southampton, with students and young people making up a large percentage of the population. I feel that young people’s views are underrepresented within the NHS and believe in improving young people’s experience and participation because from patient experience to career opportunities, the NHS has a lot to offer to young people. By increasing exposure to this I think it will help the NHS in the future.
Being a medical student I have first-hand experience of the day to day life of a hospital and community care. I also volunteer with South Central Ambulance Service as a community first responder. This helps me in better understanding the patients’ needs and how to improve the patient experience within the NHS.
