Midwives and nurses from the Princess Anne Hospital bereavement team are organising a memorial service for all babies who have died before, during and after birth.
The Forget Me Not service will take place at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church in The Avenue, Southampton, from 3pm on Sunday 21 June.
Women and their families will have an opportunity to light a candle in memory of their baby if they wish.
As well as offering emotional and practical support, the bereavement team helps families create memory boxes for their baby, which can provide comfort and a focus for grief.
All the team are trained in bereavement care and will be on hand at Sunday’s service, along with other support groups such as Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS).
Refreshments will be available and there will be an opportunity to talk afterwards.
