Patients, visitors and staff are being advised of the closure of Tremona Road tonight, preventing access to the main entrance of Southampton General Hospital.
As part of an ongoing road upgrade work, an anti-skid surface is being laid along Tremona Road resulting in the closure of the road between 8pm this evening (August 29) and 6am tomorrow morning (August 30).
As the overnight closure of Tremona Road will prevent access to the hospital's main entrance, traffic will be diverted to the Emergency Department via the normal exit on Tremona Road where it meets Dale Road, following the same diversion that was in place when roadworks were carried out in July.
Routes to the hospital and the Emergency Department will be sign-posted from approach roads.
In addition to these works there are also plans to resurfacing Coxford Road from just north of Tremona Road up to Greywell Avenue. This is also planned to be carried out overnight in two phases from 19 to 25 September, 8pm until 6am.
Further works including footway treatments along Tremona Road and Coxford Road are planned for October and November 2018 while there is also some work to improve the right turn into the hospital from Coxford Road, planned for Spring 2019.
