Overnight closure of entrance to Southampton General Hospital due to roadworks

The main entrance to Southampton General Hospital site will be closed to the public and staff overnight tonight and tomorrow, to allow for the resurfacing of Tremona Road.

The roadworks will mean Tremona Road, from Coxford Road to the entrance to the cemetery, will be closed from 8pm to 6am on Monday and Tuesday night. Public access to A&E will be maintained by using the normal exit route as an entrance.

An additional anti-skid treatment is likely to be needed either side of the pedestrian crossings on Tremona Road, which is likely to require another overnight closure of Tremona Road at the hospital entrance in early August. Updates will be given nearer to the time.

During all the overnight closures clear diversion routes will be in place to negotiate the closure and specifically for the public access to Emergency Department (ED) Ambulance access to ED is available from Tremona Road via Warren Avenue.

Although Dale Road resurfacing was undertaken last week, there are still some finishing works needed at the junction with Winchester Road. Work should only take a few hours but will require an additional overnight closure on Wednesday 4 July from 8pm until 6am, from the junction with Winchester Road down to the junction with Dale Valley Road (see map below).
