Trust completes project to implement Choose and Book across outpatients
Patients can now book for more than 150 different UHS outpatient services using the electronic Choose and Book system.
The Trust has completed an 18-month project to implement the national referral service across all its outpatient clinics.
As well as all routine consultant-led outpatient appointments, patients can book for two advice services in haematology, a pilot for tele-dermatology, 12 services led by healthcare professionals specialising in audiology and dietetics, and two nurse-led services in vascular and rapid chest pain.
Services are published and available for GPs and patients to book in the following specialties:
- Children and adolescent services
- Endocrinology and metabolic medicine
- General medicine
- Geriatric medicine
- GI and liver (medicine and surgery)
- Oral and maxillofacial
- Respiratory medicine
- Surgery (breast, vascular, urology and unspecified).
All consultant-led services have named clinicians listed, enabling GPs to choose a particular consultant if this is clinically appropriate for their patients.
All the services are directly bookable by patients and GPs except for the advice services.
It is planned to publish services very shortly for rapid access chest pain, audiology in the New Forest area and two-week wait services for suspected cancer.
Choose and Book is now fully imbedded within the Trust as the preferred method of receiving referrals from GPs.
