Privacy and dignity and single sex accommodation plan
As a patient using our services at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust you have the right to receive high quality care that is safe, effective and respects your privacy and dignity. We are committed to providing every patient with same sex accommodation because we know this helps to safeguard your privacy and dignity when you are at your most vulnerable.
We are proud to confirm that mixed sex accommodation has been eliminated at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, except where it is in the patient's overall best interest or reflects their personal choice.
We have the necessary facilities, resources and culture to ensure that patients who are admitted to our hospitals will only share the room where they sleep with members of the same sex, and same sex toilets, washrooms and showers will be adjacent to their sleeping area or bay.
