A team of dedicated fundraisers from Barclays Southampton Retail Operations have raised £533.64 for the children’s cardiac unit at Southampton General Hospital.
In February, the team organised a range of Valentines-themed activities including cake sales, raffles and lucky dips.
The fundraising total, which includes match funding from Barclays PLC will help to fund play equipment and activities for young patients receiving treatment on the purpose-built unit also known as Ocean Ward.
Senior sister Margaret Porter said, “It was with great pleasure and thanks that we received the generous cheque from the staff of Barclays, and we are always humbled by the generosity of donors.
“The donation will be used to help and support children and families through a very challenging time, and the play specialists particularly enjoy putting charitable money towards small gifts for the children following medical procedures.”
Southampton Hospital Charity aims to create an environment that exceeds the expectations of patients and visitors in the care of Southampton General Hospital, the Princess Anne maternity hospital and in connected services.
