As the Christmas Countdown continues, Southampton Hospital Charity has been receiving generous donations of gifts for youngsters who may be spending the Christmas period at Southampton General Hospital.
For the fourth year, Sainsburys in Shirley appealed for customers to donate toys and gifts to benefit children in Hospital over Christmas. Today, Sainsburys staff proudly presented five trolleys full of presents to Southampton Hospital Charity.
Last week, staff from Southampton’s Gymophobics ladies only gym also made donations of books, handmade knitted items and toys, which had been collected by gym members, friends and family.
Angela Lee from Gymophobics said, “We were extremely pleased with the response that we had with this initiative, and it is just great to be able to support the Hospital Charity however we can.” Gymophobics also kindly donated Easter Eggs earlier in the year, and hope to continue their support in 2010.
Suzie Pearce, Fundraising Officer at Southampton Hospital Charity said, “All of the toys and gifts that have been kindly donated will make a real difference to those Children who will be spending Christmas in Hospital. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the companies and individuals who have made such generous donations this year.”
Southampton Hospital Charity have also received gifts from Tiptoe School, Ready Steady Store, Carte Blanche Greetings Ltd. and Southampton Football Club, and are looking forward to receiving further donations from Redbridge Fire Service on Christmas Eve, to be distributed across childrens wards.
