Dad's dive for Southampton Hospital Charity

Southampton Hospital Charity is asking supporters to take on the challenge of a tandem parachute jump this Father’s day, to raise funds for their local hospital.

Spaces are still available for the group event, which will take place on Sunday 19 June in Salisbury and gives supporters the chance to raise funds for the area of Southampton General Hospital or the Princess Anne Hospital that they personally want to help, such as a particular ward or department.  Sponsorship money can also be raised for Southampton Hospital Charity’s main fundraising project, the £2.2million Red & White Appeal|, to create a specialist treatment unit for patients with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders from across the region

Among those hoping to take the plunge on the 19 June will be father of two Steve Mitchell| from Selsey, who was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Acute Leukaemia/Lymphoma in January 2009.  Also jumping will be his wife Carolyn, and his mother. Steve will be taking part in the sponsored jump two years on from a bone marrow transplant at Southampton General Hospital.

Steve says, "We've all decided to take on the challenge to raise funds for Southampton Hospital Charity's Red & White Appeal which will benefit patients like me who are receiving treatment for blood disorders.

“Two years on from my transplant I feel like I've been given a new lease of life and am proud to have recently set up my own bicycle hire company, Stowaway Bikes.  I'm only too happy to give something back for the fantastic care that I received.”
