Gleneagles fundraiser for blood cancer Appeal

Gleneagles

Gleneagles pub in Hythe has raised £1, 265.27 for Southampton Hospital Charity’s Red & White Appeal| for blood cancer patients.

The Appeal aims to raise £1.76million to create a specialist day case unit for patients with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders from across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Dorset, West Sussex and the Channel Islands.

Local residents Kevin Parker and Laura Dennett organised a quiz night on behalf of friend Harry Rouse, aged 17 who is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia at Southampton General Hospital.

Kevin said, “We organised the quiz night and asked Harry who he would like us to support. Harry chose the Red & White Appeal as the leukaemia unit has been a great support to him whilst he’s been going through treatment.”

Kevin continued, “I would like to say a huge thank you to the Gleneagles, Kailey Hole, Arthur Prouse and Martin and Sarah Rouse. Thanks to all their help and support the evening was a great success.”

Gleneagles are also planning a special quiz night for Southampton Hospital Charity’s Red & White Appeal Day on Friday, 9 March with quiz master Arthur promising a night of fantastic entertainment.

With £660,000 left to raise for the Appeal and the goal of raising the remaining money in 2012, the charity is calling for all pubs across the city and region to do the same and be part of ‘the Big Pub Quiz’ organising their own fundraising night on 9 March to raise money towards the Appeal.

Fundraising manager Carrie Bolt said, “We would like to say a huge thank you to Gleneagles and everyone involved in their quiz night which raised such a fantastic amount for the Appeal and we are delighted that they are continuing to fundraise with another quiz evening on 9 March.”

Carrie continued, “We would welcome all other local businesses to be part of our Red & White Appeal Day to help support these patients.”
