An employee at the Trust for nine years, Ben decided to support children’s services with his first published book.
Ben said, “Having worked at the hospital for a number of years I have been able to see first hand the fantastic work that the medical teams do every day. I felt strongly that I wanted to share my new book with the children undergoing treatment at the hospital and also help support the services through fundraising to make their stay just that little bit better.”
How To Fill A Black Hole follows the adventures of five children after their home aboard the massive starship The Magellan is destroyed by a mysterious craft known only as The Shark. Finding themselves alone in space having lost everything that they have ever known, Connor, Grace, Evelyn, Adam and Max face many terrifying ordeals. Whether it’s fighting off giant venomous spiders on the acid planet Zulfura or an attack from four-winged vultures on Baldr, the children must put their differences behind them and learn to work together if they are ever to find safety.
Southampton Hospital Charity supports wards and departments across Southampton General Hospital and the Princess Anne Hospital, enhancing services and facilities for patients and their families.
The Child Health services at Southampton General Hospital offer facilities for children and babies with a wide range of needs including surgery, urology, allergy, endocrine, diabetes, nephrology, neurology, cystic fibrosis, gastroenterology, immunology, orthopaedic and child psychiatry.
