Red & White DVD Showcases £2.2 million Appeal

Veryan Grant and Innes Marlow

Led by BBC television presenter Roger Johnson, a new short film to showcase Southampton Hospital Charity’s Red & White Appeal is launched, in which local former Leukaemia patients take starring roles.

Available now as a free DVD, the film has been produced by Red & White Appeal Corporate Partner, Innes Marlow Photography and Video, to give an insight into the significance of Southampton Hospital Charity’s fundraising project, from those with first hand experience, and to highlight the importance of continued first class care for haematology patients at Southampton General Hospital.

Award winning Hampshire photographer and filmmaker Innes Marlow has been involved in the appeal since its launch and said video is a hugely powerful medium to help the charity reach its £2.2 million target.

“The unit at Southampton has transformed the lives of so many people,’’ said Innes. “The film captures some of these personal stories and we hope it will inspire people to raise funds so even more people in the region will benefit in the future.’’

The Red & White Appeal has been launched to raise £2.2 million to create the transplant treatment centre of choice for patients with leukaemia and other blood disorders from Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Wiltshire, Dorset, West Sussex and the Channel Islands.

Southampton Hospital Charity director Veryan Grant said she was delighted with the film and the way it has become an integral part of the project. “The video encompasses everything about the Red & White Appeal and it’s the perfect way for people to see exactly what we can do and why we need to raise more funds,’’ she said.

Copies of the Red & White Appeal DVD are available now. Call Southampton Hospital Charity on 023 8079 8881 today to receive your free copy.
