Staff at Sainsbury’s Eastleigh have pledged to support Southampton Hospital Charity over the coming year.
Launching their support on Friday 19 August and joined by the Southampton Hospital Charity mascot, the team raised £140. The store will be continuning to fundraise throughout the year with the aim of raising £6,000 to fund state of the art medical equipment for the specialist Neurosciences service at Southampton General Hospital.
The money raised will help to purchase a cortical stimulator which is used to identify and map areas of the brain that control speech, sensory, vision and motor skills. The equipment’s enhanced technology will help surgeons with planning brain tumour surgery for patients.
Matt Hunter, Store Manager at Sainsbury’s Eastleigh said, “We are delighted to be supporting Southampton Hospital Charity this year. We are all looking forward to getting involved with fundraising and helping the charity to purchase this much-needed equipment which will be of great benefit to the fantastic team of neuro surgeons working at the hospital.”
