Saturday 19 September sees a group of staff from the Bramshaw Women’s Unit at the Princess Anne Hospital, and a number of friends and family members take to the skies, braving tandem parachute jumps to raise money for improvements to services across the Unit.
The Bramshaw Women’s Unit is a 28-bed ward that cares for gynaecological patients. Women undergoing breast surgery are also cared for on the Unit. Money raised from the sponsored jump will go towards funding the provision of overnight facilities for the use of partners at the difficult time of late miscarriages.
Taking the plunge are Vera Donnelly, Carol Gosling, Agnieszka Boss, Helen Perry, Jacky Isaac, and Vikki Leonard. Also joining the team are Sam King, Nadia Fisher-Plum and Joanne Horton, from the Bramshaw Women’s Unit, along with friends and family, making a total of fourteen skydivers.
Also planning a dive for donations are Jenna Oliphant, Assistant Psychologist, and Carolyn West, Cognitive Behavioural Psychologist. The pair will be skydiving on 3 October to raise funds for specially designed play equipment at Bursledon House, Children’s Unit at Southampton General Hospital.
Jenna said, “I think we all see the play area as such an important facility for the children and young people during their stay at Bursledon House – helping with aspects of their rehabilitation as well as giving them the space to run around, mix with their peers and have some fun! By doing the jump we hope to raise money to help get this important project off the ground.”
