Southampton Hospital Charity's Red & White Appeal reaches £1million

Southampton Hospital Charity’s Red & White Appeal| has raised over £1million towards a new day case unit for blood cancer patients.

Thanks to the support of individual donors, groups, communities and local businesses, we’ve raised £1,013,597.30 for the project which aims to create a specialist day unit for patients with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders from across the region.

Joan Newman, bone marrow transplant clinical nurse specialist said, “Thank you very much to everyone who has supported this Appeal. It is brilliant to be such a big step closer to our goal in building this facility. The project will be of great benefit to all our blood cancer patients and will ensure that we can provide the very best care to all those undergoing treatment for these life threatening conditions.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who has helped us to get this far.

However we’ve still got a long way to go. £2.2million is needed before we can start building the new unit which will vastly improve patients’ experiences and create a calming and more comfortable environment for vital treatment.

Joan continued, “We hope that people will continue to support the Red & White Appeal and help us reach our target as soon as possible.”
