Southampton-born four piece The Reason 4 will be joining supporters on Wednesday 16 November at 6pm to turn on the Christmas lights on Southampton Hospital Charity’s first ever Christmas tree.
Nathan, Marc, Scott and Glenn who appeared on series seven of the X Factor in 2010, will join Southampton University medical students to sing Christmas songs and help raise funds for the charity.
The Reason 4 said, “We are so pleased to have been asked to turn on Southampton Hospital Charity’s Christmas lights. It’s great for us to do something for our local community and support a great charity.”
The 9-metre tall charity Christmas tree which will stand outside the main entrance to Southampton General Hospital has kindly been supplied and installed by Kier Construction (Southern).
Kier Construction (Southern) director, Martin Orr said: “Kier is only too happy to help make Southampton Hospital Charity’s first ever Christmas tree a reality. We have a longstanding relationship with the hospital and are proud to be a part of such a worthwhile cause. The Kier team is looking forward to celebrating the start of the festive season at the big switch-on!”
Southampton Hospital Charity’s fundraising manager Carrie Bolt said, “We are very excited to have the Reason 4 joining us for the official switch-on of our charity Christmas tree lights. This is the first year that the hospital has had a Christmas tree outside, thanks to the generosity our corporate supporter Kier and we’re really looking forward to kick-starting festivities on the 16 November.”
Carrie continued, “We will also be holding a Christmas singing event around the tree on Thursday 8 December at 6pm with Southampton University’s MedSoc choir, to say thank you to all of our supporters. We hope everyone will join us in singing a few Christmas favourites including O Christmas Tree, Away in a manger and Ding dong merrily on high!”
