We bring the latest discoveries into the clinic to improve people’s lives and health, performing world-leading research and conducting trials across most medical specialities.
Our aim is to enable Southampton to be a leading centre for clinical research, allowing us to understand more about the conditions we treat and improve our healthcare services.
We provide a wide range of opportunities for researchers, patients and industry to get involved in cutting-edge research that will improve the lives of patients for years to come.
Who we are
We are a research partnership between the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, combining academic and clinical excellence.
Our primary funder is the National Institute for Health Research. Their £27m investment in our clinical trial facilities and cancer, nutrition and respiratory research and is critical to our efforts, as is their wider support of research programmes and individuals’ careers.
Cancer Research UK and the Medical Research Council are equally vital supporters of our work, providing funding for key health areas, especially for our laboratory and very early-stage research.
