As part of the Faculty’s transferable skills programme, UoS Faculty of Medicine are pleased to offer the following workshop:

Building Relationships: The Language of Mentoring – 28/03/2019 10:00 – 13:00

AB225, South Academic Block

This is a workshop to develop communication skills important for mentoring and being mentored. This workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in mentoring (either as a mentee or a mentor), for example research staff (especially postdoctoral), mentors (current or future) and pastoral tutors. All are welcome.

Dialogue is sometimes difficult when first establishing a mentoring partnership. This session aims to help you develop practical ways of communicating and building a relationship.

The workshop will be delivered by John Perry and Nicola Englyst.

John Perry is Principal Teaching Fellow in Healthcare Communication in the Faculty of Medicine.  His background and qualifications are in the areas of counselling, coaching and psychotherapy and he has a particular interest in stress and stress management.

Dr Nicola Englyst is the Chair of the Faculty of Medicine Mentoring Scheme, and an Associate Professor within the Faculty. She has experience of being both a mentor and a mentee.
