Dr Connett was appointed as a paediatric respiratory consultant at the Trust in July 1995. He was made a senior lecturer at the University of Southampton in 2007 and visiting professor to University Hospital of Singapore in 2011.
He leads the PIER Network, a multi-professional collaboration across the South of England improving medical care for children and young people. He's also been head of school for paediatrics and child health since 2014.
Dr Connett is a member of the Wessex Senate Council, a Commonwealth scholarships assessor and a professional advisor to the parliamentary health services ombudsman. He's involved in numerous charitable activities including the Child Health International initiative, which supports cystic fibrosis treatment in developing countries.
Dr Connett has an extensive research programme at the Southampton Biomedical Research Centre focusing on nutrition, respiratory health and the development of novel therapies to treat cystic fibrosis lung infection.
He has numerous publications on paediatric respiratory medicine and is the author of a textbook on the management of cystic fibrosis.
