Training and Education

Undergraduate training at Kings College Hospital, London – qualified 1993. Specialist training in Nephrology in South Thames Region 2000-2006. Clinical PhD at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia 2003-2005 entitled “Modification of Cardiovascular Risk in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.” Renal transplant experience at Guys Hospital 2005-2006. Obtained CST September 2006.

Experience

Dr Armstrong has worked for Southampton University Hospitals Trust since June 2007.

I am fully trained in all areas of Nephrology and have a special interest in cardiovascular risk factor modification in patients with chronic kidney disease and renal transplants.

Key achievements

My PhD was awarded Deans Recommendation for University Reading List – awarded to 10% of candidates per year.

Key awards and prizes

I have presented my research at National and International Conferences, including Oral Presentations at the ATC in 2005. I have received a number of awards for presentation of my research at both the Annual Transplantation Society of New Zealand and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology Annual Scientific Meeting in 2005.
