Experience

Dr Collins has worked for Southampton University Hospitals Trust since 1983. 

Moved into Clinical Genetics at Senior registrar level after several years training in Paediatrics,  initially with a research training grant for 2 years I became a consultant in Southampton in 1997 and have now been clinical lead for nearly 4 years. 

Key achievements

During my research period I established the Wessex Muscular Dystrophy Register and am now developing joint specialist clinics in Orthopaedics  / Skeletal Dysplasias and Metabolic bone disease. I am Chair of the 6 regional centres of the South and West of Britain Genetics Group and am currently treasurer of the Clinical Genetics Society.
