Experience
Dr Fairhurst has worked for Southampton University Hospitals Trust since 1990.
Trained as general radiologist in UK then undertook a Fellowship in Paediatric Radiology in USA. Started as single-handed paediatric radiologist in Southampton in 1990: the department has grown and now has 4 paediatric radiologists. We undertake all aspects of imaging in children. I sub-specialise in paediatric musculoskeletal radiology, particularly in the areas of skeletal dysplasia and non-accidental injury. I also have an interest in education and am Programme Director for Radiology in Wessex. I have just completed 5 years as an Examiner for the Royal College of radiologists' Final Fellowship examination, and was Senior Examiner last year.I lecture nationally and internationally on paediatric radiology and work as an Expert witness in non-accidental injury.
