Experience

Dr Gilbert has worked for Southampton University Hospitals Trust since June 2000.

Consultant Paediatrician and Nephrologist Cape Town 1993-1998. Locum consultant in Paediatric Nephrology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and St James’s University Hospital, Leeds, 1998-2000.

Introduced continuous venovenous haemofiltration for the management of acute renal failure in children in Cape Town. Designed and oversaw the building of the haemodialysis unit in Southampton. Published the first report of the use of Rituximab for treating steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome.
