Experience
I am a consultant colorectal surgeon at Southampton General Hospital, where I was appointed in 2010. After qualifying at Oxford University in 1996, I carried out my postgraduate training in the Wessex region. My research has focused on pelvic floor problems and I was awarded an MD thesis in 2011. Research and audit remain an important area of my work to ensure that I am able to offer a top quality service which is at the forefront of recent advances in surgery.
I see patients with many colorectal problems but my main focus is pelvic floor disorders. I carry out sacral nerve stimulation, stapled haemorrhoidopexy and laparoscopic surgery for rectal prolapse. Pelvic floor ultrasound is a new modality for assessing the pelvic floor and I have introduced this service to Southampton.
I aim to provide clinical excellence within a friendly environment for people who have pelvic floor problems.
