Experience
Dr Stroud has worked for Southampton University Hospitals Trust since 1995.
I am a busy consultant gastroenterologist at Southampton General doing a mix of ward work, out-patients and internal telescopic examinations including both gastroscopies and colonoscopies. I look after all sorts of patients with gastrointestinal problems but have a particular interest in patients with colitis or Crohns disease, and patients whose problems have led to difficulties in their maintaining good nutrition, especially those with intestinal failure. I believe that I am a caring doctor and that I am good at communicating with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
I am also a Senior Lecturer in Medicne and Nutrition
Key achievements
I am currently the specialty lead for gastroenterology in Southampton, sit on the National Council of the British Society of Gastroenterology and am chairman of BAPEN, a professional’s and patients’ organization dedicated to improving nutritional care of individuals who are ill or malnourished. I also chaired the Group that produced the NICE national Guidelines on Nutrition Support
