Course description
This course covers:

Accountability and professional issues

Revision of anatomy and physiology

Equipment selection and access information

Complications/infection control issues

Practical session
Aims and outcomes
Provides the student with the knowledge and practical skill to be able to safely cannulate.
Target audience
The session has been designed for staff who are required to cannulate as part of their day to day practice.
Prerequisites

The applicant will be required to complete a questionnaire on receipt of their application (this will be sent to you). This questionnaire must be completed and returned to the clinical skills department prior to the date being allocated to the applicant

The applicant must have a named assessor prior to attending this half day

Competency must be achieved within a three month period from close of study day

A certificate from the clinical skills department to demonstrate that the student has attended and completed the requirements of this half-day, will be issued to the student once they have had all their competencies signed off

The clinical skills department will require copies of the completed competency document prior to a certificate being issued to them
