Non-invasive ventilation advanced practitioner study day

Course description

The course will cover

  • Assessment of NIV basic knowledge
  • Revision of principles of NIV
  • Latest evidence based practice in NIV
  • New interfaces and modes of ventilation
  • Titration of NIV settings in the acute, weaning and long term phases
  • Assessment and management of patients requiring long term ventilatory support
  • Case studies and practical interactive workshops
 
Aims and outcomes
  • Provide advanced skills in the management of patients requiring NIV
  • Highlight recent advances in NIV including new interfaces and modes of ventilatory support
  • Provide indications and assessment skills for long term ventilatory support
 
Target audience

This one day course has been designed for any healthcare practitioners who have experience in caring for patients requiring NIV and wish to advance their skills and practice in this field. 

 
Prerequisites

A good knowledge of respiratory anatomy and physiology of respiratory disease process as this is not taught on the day.
