The aims of the day are to:

Provide an overview of non invasive ventilation

Apply this to acute cases

Understand the importance of mask selection, sizing and fitting

Confidently set up and troubleshoot NIV equipment
Target audience
This one day course has been designed for Trust staff to give an overview of use and application of non invasive ventilation. It is aimed at those who have some experience and will be caring for patients requiring NIV.
Prerequisites
All candidates should have a good knowledge in respiratory anatomy and physiology, bloodgases and respiratory sounds as this is not formally taught on the course. This will be assessed at the start of the day.
Support in the workplace with an experienced facilitator is strongly recommended.
