Patient transfer course

Course description

The course will cover:

  • Policy awareness and update
  • Patient safety
  • Recognition of the deteriorating patient
  • Communication skills
  • Basic life support
 
Aims and outcomes

 

Aim:

To improve patient safety and prevent communication breakdown when being transferred within the Trust.

 

Objectives:

  • To increase awareness of the transfer policy and its implications for practice
  • To raise awareness of patient safety prior to and during transfer
  • To develop awareness of signs of deterioration and recommended actions in this event
  • To improve communication skills therefore improving the patient experience
  • To be able to carry out basic life support
