Course description
This course aims to help staff become competent at assessing patients and have an awareness of patient positioning and transferring.

The topics covered are:

  • ABCDE assessment
  • SBAR
  • airway awareness
  • patient positioning
  • patient transfer skills
 
Aims and outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:
  • complete an ABCDE assessment on a patient
  • uyderstand what SBAR is and why it is used
  • have an awareness of the basic airway adjuncts that are used
  • be safe in transferring a patient
  • be able to position a patient adequately
 
Target audience
Band two healthcare assistants from Division B.
 
Prerequisites
You must have completed band two study day part one to attend this course.
