  • The role of the Link Nurse (Job Description and BI Annual Check List) 

 

Practical Tasks 

  • Getting a patient up the bed
  • Patient from sitting bed and putting patient on side
  • Correct technique for measuring a sling and Hoisting a patient
  • Lateral Transfer
 
Aims and outcomes

Understand the role of the Moving & Handling Link

  • Refresh your knowledge of Manual Handling legislation and how it affects working practices.
  • Revisit basic spinal anatomy to help understand more clearly how the spine works and be able to teach others.
  • Understand what is meant by safe and stable posture and train others
  • Learn the main principles of load handling, including pushing and pulling 
  • Be able to risk assess tasks and use the Trust load handling risk assessment
  • Gain the knowledge and skills required to teach others
