Unscheduled care medical emergencies assessment course

Course description

This course looks at how to assess and manage medical patients who present with acute illnesses.

  • Looking at the major organ systems, cardiac, respiratory, GI, renal and Neuro, as well as looking at sepsis and DKA.
  • ABCDE assessment of patients
 
Aims and outcomes
  • To improve the assessment and initial management of the acutely unwell medical patient
  • Use of ABCDE approach to assessment
  • To encourage early and appropriate senior review of unwell patients
  • To improve communication between members of the multidisciplinary team
 
Target audience

Senior band 5 nurses and above, FY1 and FY2 doctors working within Division B.
