Practical obstetric multiprofessional training (PROMPT)
Course description
The PROMPT course is a multiprofessional training course covering the management of a range of obstetric emergency situations including:

shoulder dystocia
-
emergency vaginal breech
-
eclampsia
-
cord prolapse
-
major obstetric haemorrhage
-
basic life support and maternal collapse
-
sepsis
-
basic newborn resuscitation
-
CTG interpretation and subsequent management
-
teamwork.
The format is interactive lectures and interactive drills and workshops.
Aims and outcomes
By the end of the course staff should:

have knowledge and understanding of all the topics listed above

be able to recognise and respond appropriately when encountering the obstetric emergency situations included

understand the importance of effective team working in clinical practice
-
have had hands on experience in drill scenarios.
Target audience
Midwifery staff, obstetric staff and anaesthetic staff undertaking obstetric rotation.
