  • anatomical positions
  • general medicinal and surgical terms
  • terminology associated with cancer
  • common investigations
  • neurology
  • ophthalmology
  • respiratory system
  • asthma
  • COPD
  • cardiology and common drugs
  • orthopaedics
  • dermatology
  • nephrology and urology
  • biochemistry and diagnostic imaging and haematology
 
Aims and outcomes

This course is designed to expand knowledge of medical terminology and revise and improve understanding. The course is designed to continually reinforce the information given over the two days.

By the end of the course participants will:

  • revise current knowledge, including word structure (prefixes, roots and suffixes)
  • be able to breakdown terms in a wider range of medical specialties
  • be able to expand and understand many abbreviations of medical terms
  • be able to identify many terms associated with anatomy
  • feel greater confidence in communicating with patients, preparing letters and reports and recording data
  • have additional information in the manual for further study
 
Target audience

All non-clinical staff who have previously attended a two day Medical Terminology course. Some clinical staff who may need a good refresher of terminology.
