Advanced life support (ALS) course

Course description
Resuscitation Council UK course for adult advanced life support. This is a two day course dealing with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, simple airway management and safe defibrillation (manual and/or AED), enabling them to manage patients in cardiac arrest until arrival of a cardiac arrest team and to participate as members of that team.
 
Aims and outcomes
By the end of the ALS course the student will have shown the theoretical and practical skills to effectively treat cardiorespiratory arrest, peri-arrest situations and special circumstances, and to prepare senior members of a multidisciplinary team to treat the patient until transfer to a critical care area is possible.
 
Target audience

Doctors, senior nurses and professions allied to medicine (PAMs) from areas dealing with acutely ill patients.
