Paediatric intensive care in-house retrieval course
Course description
This course will provide delegates with:

the skills and knowledge required to safely stabilise and retrieve critically ill children referred to PICU by other hospitals

full knowledge of all the transport equipment
Aims and outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
-
use the transport equipment and undertake troubleshooting for this equipment
-
demonstrate patient stabilisation and safe transfer
-
understand air transport and altered physiology
-
successfully complete the transport scenarios using Sim baby
-
be aware of safety in the ambulance
Target audience
All PICU medical staff and senior nurses (bands five to seven).
Prerequisites
Employed as a PICU registrar or sick childrens nurse in PICU with at least two years experience. Nurses must work at least 23 hours a week.
