Trust induction

Course description

The morning will consist of presentations and demonstrations.

In the afternoon delegates will be able to complete a number of the statutory e-learning modules on topics essential to their role.

Delegates will need to print certificates of completion of e-learning modules and hand these to their line manager to be placed in their personnel file and updated on their individual training record through OLM (part of ESR). Training and development will randomly audit the completion of Trust Induction so managers may need to provide these records as evidence of achievement if requested.

Aims and outcomes

Trust induction (corporate induction) welcomes new employees to UHS, covers information about UHS and sets out the foundations of mandatory training which can then be built upon by local induction in the new employee's work area.

The objectives of this course are:

  • to welcome new staff to the Trust
  • to give general information about the Trust
  • to give some of the information about UHS that employees need to settle more quickly and safely into their new role
  • to provide information concerning Trust procedures e.g. fire, health and safety, chaplaincy, governance, security, data protection, counter fraud, infection control (hand washing) and customer service
  • Trust induction also gives new staff the opportunity to meet staff from other areas of the Trust.

Target audience

This course is aimed at all newly appointed staff across all sites of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, except doctors who have their own corporate induction.
