MMC - Modernising Medical Careers
Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) aims to improve patient care by delivering a modernised and focused career structure for doctors. It also aims to develop demonstrably competent doctors who are skilled at communicating and working as effective members of a team. Modernising Medical Careers is a key enabler for the development of a flexible workforce of doctors.
MMC has set out to establish two-year foundation schools that offer doctors experience in a range of specialties and the chance to develop acute care skills as well as gain insight into possible career options.
Post-Foundation Programme (Specialty & GP training) will be streamlined to deliver specialists who are judgement-safe and to provide the right numbers of doctors to meet changing service needs. Staff Grade and Associate Specialist posts are also being re-evaluated.
