Healthcare scientists play a vital part in clinical decision making. There are a range of job roles from healthcare science assistants to consultant clinical scientist. Accredited scientific practice programmes ensure a structured career pathway. The training programmes are a mix of academic learning and work based competencies. All departments at UHS who host scientist training programme (STP) placements are fully accredited. The National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS) implements the training programmes and quality assures the training and delivery.
We also host placements for the practitioner training programme (PTP) linked to the University of Southampton and the University of Portsmouth programmes.
