Routes from airport and ferries

There are good links from local airports and ferries to the hospitals.

Example journey: From Isle of Wight or Hythe ferry terminals to Southampton General Hospital

Distance: 5.5km [3.5 miles]

Route: Taxi from ferry terminal at Southampton docks, or by bus: Catch the free green "City Link" bus from outside the Hythe ferry terminal entrance to the train station. From the opposite side of the train line, catch the number 10 bus direct to Southampton General Hospital.

Total walking distance:- approx 50m [160ft].

Example journey: From Isle of Wight or Hythe ferry terminals to Royal South Hants hospital

Distance: 2.5km [1.5 miles]

Route: Taxi from ferry terminal, or catch the free green "City Link" bus from outside the Hythe ferry terminal entrance to West Quay. Walk towards the pedestrian precinct - continue down the hill past McDonald's. Turn left at the park; catch bus number 21 which goes directly to the Royal South Hants Hospital site.

Total walking distance: approx 120m [400ft].

Example Journey: Southampton airport to Southampton General Hospital

Distance: 8km [5 miles] by train and 5km [3 miles] by taxi or bus

Route: Travel by train is recommended; the station is 50m away from the airport terminal. Catch a train to Southampton Central. Exit Southampton station on platform 1 side, where you can choose from a taxi or the number 10 bus which goes direct to the Southampton General Hospital site.

Total walking distance: approx 100m [330ft].
