Parking at Southampton General Hospital
Southampton General Hospital has a main multistory car park|, a smaller car park near the Eye Unit| and disabled car parking|. Car parking charges| apply but discounts can be obtained for patients and visitors|. There are drop-off/collection points| around the site and free facilities for motorbikes and cycles|.
At peak times parking can be limited, so please allow extra time before your appointment to park, and also ensure that you only park within the designated areas. Vehicles that are parked on double red lines or inappropriately in other areas will run the risk of being clamped and face a removal fee of £75.
Main car park
Entrance to the site's main multistorey car park is off Tremona Road. When parking in the multistorey car park, collect your ticket on entry and keep it with you. Please pay for your ticket before you return to your vehicle. Pay on foot machines are located on the ground floor by the entrance to the car park, and outside the main hospital entrance. This ticket is then used to exit from the car park.
Vehicles higher than 6'6" will not fit in the multistorey car park and will therefore need to use an alternative car park.
Neurosciences, Oncology and Eye Unit
For patients and visitors who are visiting the Neurological and Oncology centres and Eye Unit, there is a car park opposite the Eye Unit. There are disabled bays within this area and bays for Voluntary Car Drivers. Please use the new access road from Tremona Road. On entry to this area collect your ticket and keep it with you. Please pay at the pay on foot machine located near the exit barrier.
There are disabled bays directly outside the South Academic Block and Neurological centre. Please access the site from the Coxford Road entrance.
Disabled parking
Disabled parking is available in a designated car park opposite West Wing; follow the signs from the main vehicle entrance on Tremona Road. Disabled parking is charged at the same daily rate|. Pay stations are located at the main entrance and in the disabled car park, and you pay before you return to your vehicle.
Drop-off points
For your convenience there are clearly signposted short stay drop/collection zones at strategic locations around the site.
Motorbikes and cycles
Motorbikes can park free of charge within dedicated parking bays. These are located on the ground floor of the multistorey car park and various locations around the site.
Cycle hoops are located near the main entrance to the Southampton General Hospital and many other areas around the sites.
Assistance
If you require any assistance when using the car parks, each of the entry and exit barriers and pay on foot machines have an information button that will give you 24 hour access to either a Traffic or Security Officer who will be pleased to help.
