SUHT has made great strides in reducing HCAIs with numbers of both MRSA bloodstream infection and C.difficile dropping significantly since last year. MRSA has seen a 74% reduction with only seven cases seen at the Trust between April 2009 and March 2010 - compared to 27 cases in 2008/09. A 51% reduction has been seen in the number of C.difficile cases with 143 cases between April 2009 and March 2010 compared to 289 cases in the previous financial year.
