Cardiac rhythm management

Cardiac rhythm management is a growing specialty of cardiology that involves looking at heart rhythm disorders.
It is a branch of cardiology that involves the study and treatment of cardiac electrophysiology – the electrical conduction and disturbances of the heart.
The unit sees patients with a wide range of heart complaints, from people with palpitations and dizzy spells, to patients who have survived an episode of sudden cardiac death.
Southampton's Cardiac Rhythm Management unit is world-renowned and it has developed an excellent reputation for research and development and treats patients from a large geographical area.
It excels particularly at the diagnosis, treatment and research in complex heart rhythm disturbances.
Southampton is now an established major tertiary referral centre for atrial fibrillation ablation, children with congenital heart disease, and management of patients at risk of sudden cardiac death.
