ACHD networking and education
The Congenital Cardiac Service also boasts an education centre called the Wessex Heartbeat| Education Centre. This medical conference centre offers the latest multimedia technology including live audio-visual links to three catheter laboratories, the echocardiography suite and cardiac operating theatres.
The Heartbeat Suite enables our cardiac team to stay at the leading edge of telemedicine, sharing expertise about diagnosis and treatment with other cardiac centres throughout the UK and across the world. Many of the complex cases are reviewed and discussed by our cardiac team within this facility. The latest technology combined with a team approach ensures the best possible care is delivered to each patient.
Telemedicine is the use of communications technology to provide health care to patients through electronic or digital means, in their homes or other remote areas. We use this technology to monitor patients when they are at home, collect and transfer medical data.
