Educating patients before surgery
Patients undergoing cardiac surgery receive a group talk to prepare them for heart surgery.
The talk takes place in the Education room in cardiovascular and thoracic outpatients.
Patients are also encouraged to watch a DVD called "Lifelines, Heart Surgery and after". The DVD is produced by the British Heart Foundation| and aims to support patients before surgery.
This session provides the opportunity for patients to ask questions about what is going to happen to them and can help to address worries and concerns.
