Young adults' congenital heart support group

Matt Mackenzie and Sam BrownWessex Heartbeat’s Young Adults Group aims to provide social contact between adults with congenital heart conditions. In the future this could take the form of organised coffee get-togethers, outings and activities, including fundraising events to help expand and support the Congenital Cardiac Centre at Southampton General Hospital.

This is a chance to share experiences and grow in knowledge about our heart conditions, whilst making friends and having fun.

The group has close links with the ACHD cardiology team and clinical nurse specialists who support the group.

If you would like to know more about the group and get involved, please email catriona@heartbeat.org.uk|

Pictured left are two of our young members at our first ‘get-together’ – Matt MacKenzie and Sam Brown (August 2010).

At the moment we meet once a month and are making plans for some fun ‘get-togethers’. Some of the events suggested by our members include a sponsored abseil and also a go-karting event (patients take on the consultants and nurses). Why not come and join us?
