Meet the team

There is one consultant working within non-invasive cardiology, Dr Dhrubo Rakhit|

Dr Rakhit trained as a cardiologist in London and is a specialist in all types of echocardiography, including tissue Doppler, stress and contrast echo and transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE). Dr Rakhit oversees the running of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Department and provides regular echo training sessions for junior doctors, physiologists and sonographers.

Other staff working within the department include cardiac physiologists. These are the staff who perform the diagnostic tests.

The unit also works closely with:

  • Congenital cardiac services – a team of specialist consultants, nurses and intensive care staff who treat children and adults with congenital heart disease.
  • Cardiac Surgery – the team of surgeons and specialist nurses responsible for performing operations and looking after patients who need surgery after their heart condition has been diagnosed.
  • Cardiology – the team of cardiologists and specialist nurses who treat and look after patients with general heart conditions.
  • Cardiac Intensive Care Unit – the purpose-built ward where heart patients have one-to-one or one-to-two care after heart surgery or after emergency treatment.
