Neurosciences intensive care unit (NICU)
Our neurosciences intensive care unit (NICU) provides specialised intensive care for patients who have a severe illness or injury affecting their brain, spinal cord or peripheral nerves.
We are a regional unit, covering a population of approximately three million people across Hampshire, parts of West Sussex, Wiltshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, as well as the Channel Islands. You may also be admitted to the unit from further away for specialised care it isn't available in your area.
On the unit you'll be under the care of a consultant neurosurgeon or a consultant neurologist. During your stay, a consultant intensivist will oversee your care on a day-to-day basis.
We are proud of our excellent, highly-trained, multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, critical care technicians, physiotherapists, administrative and domestic staff, who work together to ensure you receive a high level of personalised care.
