Meet the breast multidisciplinary team

The Southampton breast multidisciplinary team comprises a range of core specialist clinicians, including

  • radiologists
  • oncological (cancer) surgeons
  • plastic and reconstructive surgeons
  • medical oncologists (supervising chemotherapy)
  • radiation oncologists (supervising radiotherapy)
  • histopathogists and cytopathologists
  • breast care nurse specialists

Our surgical team includes Mr Gavin Royle|, Mr David Rew|, Mr Ramsey Cutress| and Mr Richard Sainsbury|.

Our medical oncologists are Dr Peter Simmonds| and  Dr Ellen Copson|.

Our clinical oncologists are  Dr Charles Hamilton, Dr Diana Ayres|, Dr Sanjay Raj|, Dr Clare Crowley and Dr Jennifer Marshall|.

Our radiologists include Dr Caroline Rubin| (director of breast screening), Dr Michaela Stahnke|, Dr Ruth Walker|Dr Gillian Michaels| and Dr Rachel Oeppen|.

The breast care nurses specialists| are Catherine Walsh, Kye Squire, Emma Bourne and Caroline Evans.

The clinical team is supported by a range of specialist allied health professionals, including:

  • breast radiographers
  • x-ray support staff

There are also secretaries and administrators and a breast multidisciplinary team coordinator.

The breast multidisciplinary team maintains links to other specialist multidisciplinary teams in Southampton and elsewhere in the region for transfer of appropriate cases.

We meet formally once a week to review the diagnosis and treatment of all current patients, and to establish a consensus on the best individual diagnostic and treatment options for each patient.
