Meet the team

There are 9 consultants in the Radiotherapy department. These are clinical oncologists who are in charge of your care and treatment while you are a patient here.

There is a team of experienced radiographers, who will operate the radiotherapy equipment during your visits.

You will probably see these members of staff most often. They will be able to answer questions about your treatment and the procedures involved.

The team includes:

• Eight superintendent radiographers
• 15 senior radiographers
• 20 junior radiographers

The radiographers and oncologists are supported by a team of additional staff, who you may meet. They include:

• One staff grade doctor
• Seven specialist registrars
• Healthcare assistants
• Three administrative staff
• Radiotherapy physicists
• Dosimetrists, responsible for drawing up your treatment plan

The Radiotherapy department also has close links with other healthcare professionals who may be involved in your treatment. These include:

• Physiotherapists
• Dietitians
• Occupational therapists
• Specialist and liaison nurses
• Physicists
• Biomechanical engineers
• Admin and clerical staff
• Macmillan Information and support staff

The volunteer group, the League of Friends, also have a presence in the Radiotherapy department. They run the coffee shop and snack bar in the Radiotherapy waiting room.
